KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS WITH JAMES REAMS and THE BARNSTORMERS

Saturday, August 12, 2017 – 7:30pm
729 Peekskill Hollow Road, Putnam Valley
Join us for another intimate, rollicking evening at the historic Tompkins Corners Cultural Center. Come and listen to the musician about whom Bluegrass Unlimited said: “There are few vocalists as natural as Reams. He doesn’t have to try to sound down-home, he’s there at each turn in the song.”
His music features driving rhythm and hard-edged harmonies that take you back to a time before bluegrass was smoothed out for the uninitiated, the ill-prepared or the faint of heart. Check out their website:  http://www.jamesreams.com/
Suggested donation is $15. Prepaid tickets are available at  http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3050246.  For more information or to reserve seats, call 845 528-7280 or email info “at” tompkinscorners.org.

MISSISSIPPI FIDDLE TUNES with HARRY BOLICK and NATHAN BONTRAGER

Sunday, August 13, 2017 – 4:00pm
729 Peekskill Hollow Road, Putnam Valley
Harry Bolick sings and performs on fiddles  and guitar. He will be sharing many tunes and songs unheard since they were collected in manuscript form in Mississippi in the 1930s, along with engaging stories of the history of their collection and sources.  Special guest Nathan Bontrager will accompany Harry on cello. In recent times the cello has found a new place in the music world. Playing old-time fiddle tunes, both lead and backup, Nathan has mastered many styles on his cello and his playing is a natural for Mississippi fiddle tunes. Tompkins Corners is honored to bring these two masters together for a very special concert.
The concert will be followed by a potluck dinner, all are welcome. And then an evening of Old-time fiddle tunes jam session – bring your instruments along and join the fun.
The suggested donation for the concert is $15, or pay what you can. Please reserve your space at http://www.tompkinscorners.org/reservations.html.
Books and CDs will be available for purchase at the event.
